A revealing and entertaining book about the auto industry written by a retired autoworker. Author R.L. Moore tells about his experiences from a summer laborer to UAW master millwright at  Ford Motor Company's  Ford Rouge Center.
Born in Detroit and raised in Northern Michigan, Ralph Moore spent 33 years working for Ford Motor Company and Rouge Steel in Dearborn.  During his career, he worked in  fifteen different buildings at the Rouge Complex. He eventually became a licensed millwright. In 1990, after Ford sold its steel division, Moore transferred to Rouge Steel, where he retired in 1998. He now resides on the Upper Black River near Onaway, Michigan with his wife Debra. He has two grown children.
THE AUTHOR
Ralph enjoys living in northern Michigan and can be found fishing or on one of the local golf courses and is an avid Detroit- Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons & Lions fan.

When asked just what is it that a millwright does?  Ralph will respond with a smile and a great deal of pride, “We are the carpenters of steel.”
