Book signings at the Island Book Stores

Saturday,July 24, and Tuesday,July 27, I was in Mackinaw City and on Mackinaw Island respectively, signing books for the Island Book Stores.

The weather was great both days and I got to meet a lot of wonderful, interesting people who stopped by to have a book signed and tell me stories about people they knew who also worked at Fords Famous Rouge Complex in Dearborn, Michigan.

Also each day I had a person look at the title of the book and say that they heard a radio station in the metro Detroit area talking about "Uncle Henry's Ford Rouge".

Earlier in the year I gave some books to some of the local radio stations in that area, one of which was WYCD,Young Country and their famous Disc Jockey,Dr. Don Carpenter. He said he would try to help me out with my poem,"My Name Is Hank" about the famous Country singer Hank Williams Jr.. I have always wanted to get a copy of the poem to Hank and hopefully some day this will happen.

I was pleased to hear they were talking about the book on these well listened to radio stations - hopefully they had something good to say about it.

If anyone else heard anything whether it be good, bad, or funny please let me know.

Island Book Store signings

Saturday, July 24, I will be signing books at the Island Book Store in Mackinaw City from 1-4pm.

Tuesday, July 27, I will be at the same store, but only on Mackinaw Island and it will also be from 1-4pm.

It is finally official,Bob King is the new President of the UAW and as I mentioned in my book,I can now say that I once worked with him when I was a young millwright apprentice in the Dearborn Stamping Plant.

I predict he is going to be a very active president, doing whatever he can to win back many of the benefits the membership gave up during the hard times. He was one of the leaders responsible for these giveaways, so now it's payback time.

I think he will also be introducing many new ground breaking ideas and seeing that the UAW is front and center in leading the way into a new and extremely challenging future.

I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

I was very pleased with the turnout for the Thursday, May 27 book presentation at the Alpena Public Library.

Many people interested in all of the great Ford Rouge history showed up and from their reaction seemed to enjoy the program.Afterwords many questions were asked and a lot of good stories were told by members of the audience.I think we could easily have gone on for another half hour or so, but it was getting late and I had a long drive back home.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and thanks to everyone at the library for having me there.
