In the early years , Henry Ford had set up the Rouge Complex in such a manner that they could make a complete automobile without having to go outside the complex for parts. It was totally self sustaining.....
The Rolling Mill around 1975 was slowly beginning to change...... they were beginning to purchase stock from outside sources.
......I considered myself fortunate to have been able to work there and be a part of all that history, and to have worked with so many of the old hard-core millwrights from the early days.

Another lesson learned the hard way came on day when I was sent over to the old machine shop, which was also part of the G-Hole, to help out my millwright buddy Fred Goroni. Fred was in the process of taking down a chain air hoist that was mounted on an overhead monorail.
